Unfortunately for Soichiro, the band is an ultra-heavy death metal band that sings about Satanism, rape, & murder. The band also parades around in make-up reminiscent of the heavy metal band KISS crossed with Ziggy Stardust era David Bowie. As you might guess, Soichiro is absolutely miserable performing this type of music, but his fear of his abusive female manager keeps him in the band. Meanwhile, Soichiro runs across old college sweatheart Yuri Aikawa (Rosa Kato). Yuri shares Soichiro's love for twee pop and works for a hip magazine as a music columnist. Sochiro is too embarrassed to tell Yuri what type of music he now plays. Can Soichiro gain the affection of Yuri without Yuri discovering the truth behind his day time gig? Complicating matters even more, the infamous death metal artist known as Jack (Gene Simmons) is set to retire, but first sets out on a farewell world tour. Soichiro's band "Death Metal City" then gets thrust into a death metal challenge with Jack for the adoration of all Japanese music fans.

Though Asako enjoys it, she proves to be a distraction to the other band members and is soon ejected from the session by Yukari, their manager. But Natsu is determined to keep her around, pulling strings to make Yukari and Asako to become friends, and eventually, helping Asako to become LANDS co-manager.
LANDS was formed among friends, but as the band begins to climb the ladder towards major stardom, they get in touch with the dark side of the music industry, discord surfaces, inevitable frictions emerge, and unrequited love strains their friendship, threatening to pull their bonds apart.

Soon enough, Ryosuke and Koyuki form a 5 piece rock band named "Beck," while Maho and Koyuki become involved in a romantic relationship.
The band starts to play live shows and grow an enthusiastic following. The releaseof their debut CD helps to further the band's popularity. People start to notice Koyuki. The band then endures a producer's planned conspiracy and other hardships. Beck then receives an offer to play at a rock festival, but with the unusual stipulation that the band may have to dissolve.

Two girls meet on a train headed for Tokyo. The bubbly girl in white is named Nana and she sits next to a black clad rock girl named Nana as well. They talk briefly and seem to share some common bond, before leaving for their own seperate ways. When bubbly Nana looks at an apartment for rent in Tokyo, of course black clad Nana would be there and wants to rent thesame apartment. Instead of trying to decide who should get the apartment they decide to share the apartment as roommates. From there their bond grows closer as they help each other deal with their own personal problems.

But, Aki provides his music to Crude Play under the name of producerSoichiro. Aki begins to date Riko (Sakurako Ohara), whose father runs a fruit and vegetable shop. Riko doesn't know about Aki's background, but she likes to listen to him hum. Riko is in a band herself, with childhood friend Yuichi and Sota. One day she is scouted by producer Soichiro.

She is messy and disorganized, takes baths several days apart and loves to eat, sometimes stealingher friend's lunchbox when it is filled with delicacies.
Shinichi Chiaki, is Momogaoka's top student. Born into a musical family, he is talented in piano and violin and has secret ambitions to become a conductor. An arrogant multi-lingual perfectionist who once lived abroad in the music capitals of the world as a young boy, he feels mired in Japan because of a childhood phobia.
They meet by accident. Nodame quickly falls in love, but it takes much longer for Chiaki to even begin to appreciate Nodame's unusual qualities. Their relationship causes them both to develop and grow. Because of Nodame, Chiaki got the opportunity to lead a student orchestra and begins to have a broader appreciation of people's musical abilities. Because of Chiaki, Nodame faces her fears and enters a piano competition. Opportunities open up as both begin taking risks, stretching themselves far more than they ever thought possible.

Their relationship causes them both to develop and grow. Because of Nodame, Chiaki got the opportunity to lead a student orchestra and begins to have a broader appreciation of people's musical abilities. Because of Chiaki, Nodame faces her fears and enters a piano competition. Opportunities open up as both begin taking risks, stretching themselves far more than they ever thought possible.
